The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
